“How do I…” add music without easy importer?

The first step is to pull up your windows media player and make sure the settings are correct. Once you have it pulled up go to Tools at the top of the screen then select “options”.

This will pull up a bunch of tabs, select “rip-music”.

Here is where we need to make sure the settings are correct. The first thing you see is “rip music to this location”. Notice the file path underneath that. This is where your ripped music is stored on your computer. To the right of that you can change this if you want. Wether you change it or not make sure you remember the path. You will need to know this in a later step. Below this is “rip settings”, make sure the format selection is mp3. You can select rip cd automatically if you want, this will rip any cd you put in your computer automatically without having to pull up the windows media player yourself and hitting rip music. Below that you will see “audio quality” which has a slide bar below it. Make sure to slide this to the right until you get to 320 kps. After that hit the ok button at the bottom and now your windows media player settings are correct to download to your controller. Put a cd in your computer you want to add to control4. Then pull up windows media player if you didn’t choose the automatic rip option and rip it to your player. Once that is complete pull up composer HE. Select the media button on the bottom left.

For me I selected “home controller HC500″ at the top left since that is where I keep all my music for control4. On the rightside you should now see all the music you currently have on your controller.
On the top right of this screen choose “add”. This will pull up a pop up box.

Now you need to scroll down inside this box and select the file where you stored your music when you ripped it with the windows media player. Once you have drilled down to that file select ok and composer will proceed to add it to your controller. After this is done you should see your cd now in the big pane. Most of the time at least for me I have to refresh my navigator at this point for my new downloads to show up on my touch screen or tv screen.

There you go, a quick and easy way to download your music to your controller without easy importer.

hope you enjoyed

“How do I…” re-calibrate my touch-screens?

Sometimes you may need to re-calibrate your touchscreen. It’s pretty simple to do. Unfortunately, we do not have any information at this time in regards to performing the calibration on a 10.5″ that can be done without a dealer’s assistance, but we will update this post should we find a way.

7″ Portable
Calibration:
•Hold the standby button down until you get the calibration screen
– approximately 1 minute 25 seconds.

7″ In-wall & Tabletop

Hold button 2 & 3 (the two center buttons on either side of the ”Control4″ wording) down.

It will go to a Message for the Network reset. and tell you to release the buttons. Do not release the buttons.

It will then show a message that it is resuming currant network settings.
Release the buttons at this point.

Tip: When touching the center cross hair please allow 30-45 seconds before you see the actual GUI interface only apply one touch to the center cross hair. Do not continue tapping the center button!

Mini-touch screen:

Reboot by holding down the knob.

The screen will go to “Loading, please wait” then to a black screen as it reboots. Continue to hold the knob.

After about 20 seconds it will go to the Control4 Network screen to reset the network settings.

It will tell you to let go of the knob to reset the network settings. Do not Let go of the knob.

After a few seconds it will change to Continuing with current network configuration. Let go of the knob at this point

Then it will boot to the screen that will prompt you to “Touch the crosshairs to calibrate your screen”.

It starts in the bottom left corner.

You can use your finger, or to get more precise you could use the stylus from the 10.5 touchpanel if you have one.

Touch the crosshairs as it moves around the screen.
