“How Do I…” warn myself when a card access sensor battery is low?

May 1, 2010

Most of us have some card access devices in our system. If you have a card access sensor, you can pull up composer and check the battery levels, but why not make things simpler. If you have 4sight you can tell your system to email you when the battery is low or critical.

It’s pretty simple actually. First we need to create the email in composer. So on the bottom left select agents. At the top left select “email notification”. Below that select “add”. A pop-up box appears asking for a name. One of my garage doors is named extra in composer so for this write up I’m going to name it “card access extra garage sensor” then click on “create”.

Now fill in the information to the right. Here is an example of what I usually do, obviously put in the email of your choice in the “to” box, then click on “save”.

Now to trigger it with a little programming. On the bottom right of composer select programming. On the top left (device events) scroll down and find the card access device that you want the email about. Below that you see 2 options. I’m selecting “battery is critical”.

Now on the top right side (device actions) scroll down to “email notifciation”. Below that is a box next to the word template. Click on that box and select the email we just created.

Now drag this command to the center and we are all done.

hope you enjoyed
