ControlUI updates the Control4 MyHome app for iPad to include Rhapsody

Version 1.3 should be showing up for you in iTunes. No other major improvements have been noted at this time. We’ll update this post when we get the release notes.

A new version (1.3) of the iPad app is available today (June 22, 2010) that includes full Rhapsody functionality. We hope to have everything except Apple TV/iTunes completed by the end of June.

This version (1.3) of the Control4 My Home for iPad supports the following functionality:
- Rhapsody
- Lights, lighting scenes, all lights, and all lighting scenes
- Thermostat for the room you’re in (including “all tstat”)
- Security system control (sensors are not in this release)
- Web cams
- Digital audio library
- DVD drivers
- VCR drivers
- Media player drivers
- TV drivers
- Satellite drivers
- Disc changer drivers
- Cable drivers
- Now playing information
- Zone management
- Custom buttons
- Dedicated mode (this is under More -> Preferences. It allows the user to keep the app open & WiFi connection active so the iPad can act more like a dedicated Control4 touch screen.)
- Demo mode (this is under More -> Preferences. It loads a demo project so you can demonstrate the functionality without being connected to a Director. You must turn this off in order to connect to a Director)
- TV channels
- Movie browsing, meta data, artwork

There’s still a few things to be finished for the app, as seen below – don’t panic if these don’t work just yet, as development is continuing and an update should be posted soon.

- Tuner drivers
- Radio stations
- House Contacts/Sensors
- Comfort controls
- Apple TV & iTunes
- iPod dock
- Wake up

Also, for remote access, the following ports must be forwarded on the router to the IP address of the Control4 controller running Director:
-5020 & 5021 are the control ports
-5555 is the Rhapsody port
-80 is the artwork port

It is much more secure and easier to manage to use a VPN rather than port forwarding.
