CEDIA 2016 – Sonance of Dana Innovations

The SOHO Shop had the pleasure of going to CEDIA 2016 in Dallas, Texas again this year. We’re happy to be back and share all the amazing technology and new products coming out from some incredible vendors. To start off, we’ll discuss Sonance of Dana Innovations.

Sonance had an exciting reveal of the new commercial series product line.  This was a ground up development that will completely replace their existing offerings.  The new line will offer 70 volt / 8 ohm speakers offered in architectural in-ceiling, wall mount outdoor rated, and indoor pendant styling.  Driver ranges will be offered from a 4” up to an 8” with subwoofer offerings in each category.  These speakers push the bar higher in regards to sound quality compared to the other brands in the same category.  Also, the general build quality is much higher, but there is not an increase in costing.  We have been patiently waiting for this line to be released.  The design styling and audio quality will be combo offering to our clients.

Sonance showed some great new products from the iPort line.  They now have iPort solutions for the iPad Pro 12.9” models.  This will allow for these units to be wall mounted and used as large wall touch panels.  Built in charging, and even the ability to physical hardwire to a network is available.

The new iPort Express is a great $99 wireless keypad option that is designed to integrate with the SONOS platform.  The Express is paired with a SONOS audio zone and can be programmed to offer direct zone activation and basic control to the zone player.  This is compatible with all SONOS products.  The Express has a magnetic backing so it can be placed just amount anywhere and can be used with a matching decorative style wall plate for a wall mount solution.  Charging is done over micro-USB, but it will hold a charge for years as it used low wave wi-fi to communicate via the network to the SONOS players.
