We ventured by the Planar booth and saw something that was very impressive. Planar had their transparent OLED video glass on display. This is ideally used in the commercial space for digital signage but we spoke about some uses in custom residential projects. This would be a killer setup in a kitchen or maybe in a master suite as a divider between a bathroom and bedroom. The glass must physically attach to a wall as that is how video and power are fed. The glass can then “float” off of the wall and display a high-resolution image. It was a very impressive product.
Wyrestorm displayed their new 10 x 10 and 16 x 16 4K UHD matrix video switch. This is a great solution for our larger custom projects. There is a built-in audio matrix as well which supports up to 16 source locations. The unit has a great IP-based setup menu that allows troubleshooting and advanced setup of the unit. This will be a big timesaver when in the field.
Wyrestorm also displayed some new 4K video over IP hardware that is completely scalable. They will allow for distribution of 4K material from the source head in, and scale from 4K down to 720p at each display location. Allows for better flexibility when doing deployments with a mix of video displays.
