Control4 Home Controller HC-200 is about to become much more powerful!
Last Updated on Sunday, 5 December 2010 07:35 Written by Bryan Friday, 3 December 2010 05:39
The upcoming release of OS 2.0.5 (currently scheduled for mid-December) will enable the Control4® Home Controller HC-200 (Rev. B) to serve as the primary controller in a multi-controller project for the first time.
Earlier this year the HC-200 (Rev. B) was released with additional processing power and memory to help boost system performance. Now, Control4 has taken that potential one step further, giving the opportunity to use the HC-200 (Rev. B) as a primary controller in multi-controller systems. This will allow the HC-200 (Rev. B) to operate as the dedicated primary controller running Director to boost performance in projects which might not be quite large enough to justify an HC-1000 but would benefit from a performance improvement.

Buy a new Control4 controller, get a free upgrade license to 2.0
Last Updated on Thursday, 29 April 2010 04:33 Written by Cody Wednesday, 23 December 2009 11:25
Control4Â is running a promotion where if you buy any controller starting today ( HC-300 or HC-1000v3) from any authorized dealer, Control4 will include a free upgrade license to firmware version 2.0 when it is released if that controller is to be used as the primary controller in the system. The 2.0 license is “per project”, meaning that it will be the same price regardless of the number of devices/controllers in the project.
It has long been rumored that this update would be a pay-for update, and this information confirms it. Of course, the license fee does not include the cost of having your dealer out to perform the upgrade, or any costs you may incur by having to upgrade any hardware that’s not supported. (For a list of what is currently not supported in 1.8, click here. This list is subject to change once 2.0 is released and may include additional equipment).
In the end, it’s at least a couple hundred dollars value, and a good deal if you’re just starting out or if you were planning on adding a HC-1000v3 or HC-200 to your project.
When we have more information, we’ll let you know. Also, don’t forget that the trade-in promotion is still running until 12/31/09 – save even more money!

RIP – V2 10.5″ touchpanels, HC-500, and Contact/Relay extender
Last Updated on Thursday, 29 April 2010 04:32 Written by Cody Wednesday, 18 November 2009 11:28
This past week, Control4 has announced End of Life status for its V2 10.5″ touchpanels, HC-500 controller, and the contact/relay extender. This means that no new orders are being accepted for these items, but the two year warranty is still in effect and honored should you buy one of these items from a dealer or already have one in service. If you bought from eBay, well you don’t get a warranty anyway. The transitions are to use the new 7″ panels, offered in Wireless, Tabletop, and In-wall varieties; the HC-200, 300, or 1000v3 controllers depending on your needs, and the new I/O extender if you need to bump up available serial connections, IR outputs, or contacts/relays in your project.
