The Driverworks Software Development Kit enables seamless integration of 3rd party products and services that are not usually offered in Control4’s Driver Wizard. One of the drivers integrated is my Pop3 Email Control Driver.
The Pop3 Email Control Driver allows users to control the Control4 Home Automation System by emailing an email address hosted on a POP3 email server. The driver will poll the email server on a desired interval to grab the subject and from fields of the emails. These are then inserted into a variable from which the Control4 Programmer can use in the Control4 Programming Tab.
I have also added functionality which will allow the user to email any message and it will be displayed via the announcement agent (as long as it has the word ANNOUNCEMENT in the subject line).
The uses of the driver are up to the programmer. Some examples are as follows;
* Control over HVAC, Lighting and motorised devices.
* Status queries on device state (must have 4sight)
* Remote Announcement Agent Execution.
* One guy even got it setup so his phone emails his house upon proximity. How cool is that?
